Resume interrupted work
Smart Window targets a common problem: research spread across many tabs becomes difficult to resume the next day. The assistant can group related pages, detect duplicates and show visual history previews. It can also retrieve current information with sources without forcing users to leave their task.
A French model in an independent browser
Mozilla says it selected Mistral Small 4 after evaluations that included multilingual performance. The partnership gives a European supplier access to users without owning the browser. It does not make every component open by itself, but it avoids making one assistant the unavoidable default.
Control must remain visible
The product’s value depends on clarity about data sent to the model. A browser already knows open pages and history; turning that context into an AI request increases its sensitivity. Mozilla will need understandable controls for scope, retention and disabling each function.
A beta to evaluate before adopting
French users can now test the experience in their language, but a beta is not an ideal place for confidential material. Start with non-sensitive research, inspect the cited sources and compare answers with standard browsing before making it a daily tool.
